Madison/Dane County foreclosures up in May

Dane County foreclosures increased in May, for the fourth month out of the last five. May foreclosure filings increased by 2% from the number of filings registered in May of 2011, according to data maintained by the Wisconsin Circuit Court. A total of 102 new foreclosures were filed in May compared to 100 filings a year ago.

The graph below shows the number of foreclosures for every May dating back to 2004. As the graph shows, foreclosures remain at historically high levels.

Foreclosures in 2012 are currently ahead of last year’s by pace by 10.1%.
