Dane County Foreclosures decreased in October

Dane County foreclosures decreased in October, the third straight month to register a year-over-year decrease in filings. October foreclosure filings decreased by 5.7% from the number of filings registered in October of 2011, according to data maintained by the Wisconsin Circuit Court. A total of 99 new foreclosures were filed in October compared to 105 filings a year ago.

Wisconsin foreclosure filings increased slightly, by 2.3% from the number of filings registered a year ago. A total of 1,918 new foreclosures were filed in October compared to 1,875 in October of 2011.

The graph below shows the number of monthly Dane County foreclosure filings dating back to January, 2005. October was the fourth month in the last 10 to register a year-over-year decrease in filings.

This graph shows Dane County foreclosure filings for every October dating back to 2004. As the graph shows, the foreclosure total this October was the lowest since October of 2006, when 73 foreclosures were filed.
